Doctor says stay alert for a safe time

LUDHIANA: There is always a happy buzz of activity on Diwali day but city doctors warn that people should not compromise safety in the middle of everything.
Dr Ashish Gupta, associate consultant at the department of plastic and microvascular surgery, SPS Apollo Hospital, said the number of burn injury cases increases every year.
"The reasons are the numerous faulty firecrackers, wrong ways of igniting them and more than anything else, ignorance and carelessness,'' he said.
Head of the department of plastic surgery and burn unit at DMCH, Dr Sanjeev Uppal also said residents can save themselves a lot of harm if they take some basic precautions.
